IKBC at SOFEX 2026 JORDAN
IKBC Chairman Attended SOFEX Jordan 2026, Strengthening Iraq–Korea Business Relations
The Chairman of the Iraq–Korea Business Council (IKBC), Mr. Ahmed Shaban, attended the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX 2026), held in Aqaba, Jordan, from 27 to 29 October 2026.
The exhibition brought together government representatives, industry leaders, and international companies from around the world, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new connections, and explore potential areas of cooperation.
During his visit, Mr. Shaban met with representatives of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), along with Korean business partners, to discuss opportunities for strengthening commercial and industrial cooperation between Iraq and the Republic of Korea.
KOTRA also maintained a presence at SOFEX 2026 through its Korean defence industry promotional programme, showcasing Korean technologies and supporting opportunities for international business cooperation.
The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on potential partnerships, particularly in the areas of technology, industrial development, defence, and security, while exploring ways to encourage greater involvement of Korean companies in the Iraqi market.
Mr. Shaban highlighted the importance of maintaining close ties with Korean institutions and businesses and reaffirmed IKBC’s role in connecting Iraqi and Korean companies, facilitating business opportunities, and supporting long-term partnerships between the two countries.
IKBC’s participation in international events such as SOFEX reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Iraq–Korea economic relations and creating new opportunities for businesses from both nations.
The Council looks forward to building on the relationships and discussions established during SOFEX 2026 and continuing its efforts to bring the Iraqi and Korean business communities closer together.
