The Chairman of the Iraq-Korea Business Council (IKBC) visited the office of the Korea-Arab Society (KAS) in Seoul on 12 August 2026, where he held a productive meeting with the Secretary-General of KAS, who previously served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Iraq.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on strengthening cooperation between IKBC and KAS and to explore practical avenues for contributing to closer relations between Iraq, Korea, and the wider Arab region.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing institutional, economic, business, cultural, and people-to-people cooperation. They agreed to maintain close communication and work together on initiatives that can create greater opportunities for engagement between Korean and Iraqi businesses, institutions, and communities.

Particular attention was given to the potential for cooperation in areas such as business networking, trade and investment promotion, joint events and forums, exchange of information and expertise, and facilitating connections between relevant organizations and stakeholders in Korea, Iraq, and the Arab world.

Both sides also recognized the value of organizing joint programs and activities aimed at increasing awareness of emerging business and investment opportunities, while strengthening mutual understanding between the Korean and Arab business communities.

The Secretary-General’s extensive experience and close familiarity with Iraq, including his previous service as the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to Iraq, provided valuable perspectives during the discussion on the development of bilateral relations and the opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries.
