Iraq–Korea Business Council Receives the Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Baghdad to Discuss Prospects for Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation
The Chairman of the Iraq–Korea Business Council, Mr. Ahmed Shaban, received the Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Iraq at the Council’s headquarters in Baghdad, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Iraq–Korea relations and expand avenues of cooperation between the two countries across a broad range of areas of mutual interest.
The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, and attended by Ambassador Basim Khattab, Head of the Asia and Australia Department; Dr. Riyadh Fakher Al-Hashimi, Director General of the Department of External Economic Relations at the Ministry of Trade; Dr. Mohammed Jumaa, Chargé d ’Affaires of the Embassy of Iraq in the Republic of Korea; Dr. Uday Mohammed Mazaal, Commercial Attaché; and Dr. Zeina Muthanna Jasim, Rapporteur of the Joint Committee, in addition to representatives of a number of Iraqi ministries, including the Ministries of Labor and Social Affairs, Justice, Agriculture, Culture, Transport, Communications, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Education, as well as representatives of the Federation of Iraqi Industries and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further develop bilateral relations between Iraq and the Republic of Korea and reviewed opportunities to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in support of the shared interests of the two friendly nations. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening channels of communication, encouraging reciprocal visits, and fostering effective partnerships that contribute to reinforcing bilateral relations at all levels, reflecting the longstanding friendship between the Iraqi and Korean peoples.
During the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Shaban, Chairman of the Iraq–Korea Business Council, expressed his appreciation for the important role played by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Baghdad in supporting bilateral relations. He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to continuing its efforts to promote cooperation and further strengthen ties between the two sides.
For his part, the Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Iraq expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended to him and commended the Iraq–Korea Business Council for its role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He also reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting initiatives that expand cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise, thereby enhancing bilateral relations and creating new opportunities for partnership between Iraq and the Republic of Korea.
At the conclusion of the meeting, commemorative plaques were exchanged between the Chairman of the Iraq–Korea Business Council and the Korean Military Attaché as a gesture symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and the shared commitment to continuing coordination and cooperation in pursuit of the common interests of both countries.
